Last Entry for 2008

Holiday Events:

Tuesday morning at 9:00 in the Palm Theater, K-3 students will present their winter music concert. Robbin Closson has been working hard to prepare the students for their concert. She has also adjusted the seating arrangement so that the main block of seats will be open for parents to sit up close and enjoy the show rather than standing at the rear of the auditorium. Be sure that your child is dressed up a bit for the concert, no blue jeans or t shirts please.

The Ski/Skate P.E. program begins next week for all TSD students. Kindergarten and first grade students will be skiing on Mondays and second and third grade students on Tuesdays. Please be sure to review the information sent home this fall regarding all the details of the program. Remember that all students must bring a sack lunch for the first week days of skiing. After the winter holiday, Big Billies and Gorrono will be open and 1st-3rd grade students can purchase a hot meal. Parents can give Telski their credit card information so that your child's pass can be scanned and charged for lunch, eliminating the need for cash in a ski pocket.

On Thursday of this week, your students will be meeting with representatives from the ski school and ski patrol to review important safety rules on the mountain. Please be sure to ask your child about this on Thursday night. The Telluride School District has been participating in the Ski PE program for 32 years. I believe we are the only public school that continues to offer a ski program within the academic day. As our population grows so do the complexities of the program. However, we are committed to sharing the culture of Telluride with all of our students. If you have ANY questions about skiing or skating, please be sure to ask them this week. You can contact classroom teachers, Shelley or myself. There are no dumb questions and we want to make sure all students are prepared for a warm and safe start to the program.

Lost and Found:
All clothing items not claimed from the TES lost and found by December 19, will be sent to the Free Box or Humane Society in Ridgway. If your child is missing a jacket or gloves, etc. please take the time to look through the "treasure box" located in the basement of TES.

Breakfast With Santa:

On Saturday, December 13th from 8-11:00 AM, you can have a pancake breakfast and get a photo with Santa at the Telluride Elementary School Cafeteria. The Board of Directors from the Telluride Early Childhood Center will be hosting this fundraising event for the preschool located in the elementary school. This program receives support from the district in the form of free rent and utilities, but generates all operating funds through student tuition, grants, and fundraising. The cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children, 3-12.
